# Introduction
The Taurns have humanoid torsos, but the legs of an ungulate. Their heads vary, sometimes animalistic, sometimes human, or somewhere inbetween. They are a prideful people, and typically keep to themselves. They have few cities in the territories they control, but most instead opt to travel in nomadic tribes, cycling through the plains. While they often pride themselves on their honor, they prefer war to diplomacy, though rarely to the death. They are highly competitive and often take part in sports. It is just as common to find a well dressed Taurn as it is for them to go nude.
There is typically a lot of tension between Taurns that live in cultures where Taurns are the minority and nomadic Taurns that live among the plains. Those of the plains call these expats, “The Bridled” derogatorily.

# Optional Facets
Centaurian: Most Taurns have plenty of experience in battle. Taurns that take this facet gain the ability to charge down their opponent. When you move in a straight line to melee attack an enemy and successfully hit them, add +1 [[Damage|Crushing]] dmg for every meter traveled as you trample onto your enemy. They are knocked prone this way. Furthermore, when an enemy melee attacks you from behind, you may take a free unarmed attack with your hooves in retaliation.
Hillhooves: Some Taurns prefer the hills and the mountains over the plain. These Taurns are highly proficient at climbing and maneuvering over impossible terrain. Taurns that take this facet lose the Ungainly feature, and no longer struggle when climbing. They also gain +proficiency with Coordination
# Affinities
There is a wide variety of Taurns with different legs and features of Ungulates. These different body types often lend themselves toward common groupings, although many Taurns sit somewhere on a sliding scale among these. These affinities are better to think of as general guidelines rather than hard rules of their body types. The most common typings are:
## Ado
Swiftfoot: The Ado have legs similar to that of horses, and typically have higher sprinting speed than their fellows. They enjoy an increased 2 meters of speed. As a free action, they may use the Gallop ability and further increase their speed by an additional 4 meters of speed for the next 30 minutes, but at the end of that time, they incur a point of Exhaustion.
## Minos
Heavyfoot: The Minos legs are large, similar to bovine, and they are typically among the heaviest built of their heritage. Minos are powerhouses, through and through. When they choose to Unarmed attack, as one action, they attack with two different Unarmed attack options. Additionally, thick, heavy hoof attacks do triple damage to Prone targets, rather than double.
## Satyr
Surefoot: Satyrs, with the sharp hooves of goats, are almost certainly Specialized with Hillhooves. Some Satyrs, however, are especially adept at climbing. This facet requires both the Satyr affinity and Hillhoof facet as prerequisites. Those Satyrs known as Surefoots are outstanding climbers, and gain Master proficiency with Coordination, along with +proficiency with Balance. They are known to climb the sheer faces of cliffsides, with only the smallest of rifts needed to leverage themselves. That being said, these feats are known to be highly dangerous, as one event outside of their control can challenge their Balance, and they are not immune to fall damage.
## Elk
Paddlefoot: Elk are the people; Moose are the animal. They despise outsiders who constantly mix them up, however, both species have similar hooves, adapted for swimming in river environments. Elk with this facet are excellent swimmers and they are not slowed by water. Furthermore, they have no difficulty navigating slick terrain, such as snow, mud, or ice, with their curved hooves perfect for navigating mountain valleys.
## Orc
Spadefoot: Orcs are typically short and stout, and are usually defensive because of that. However, while their pig-like legs don’t tend to lend them height, they are excellent for foraging. Orcs are noticeably faster and more precise at digging, and have advantage on checks of Investigation that require sifting and digging with their hooves.
## Dromen
Padfoot: Dromens are known desert dwellers, and looking at their hooves, it’s easy to see why. Their unique camel-like hooves are exceptionally wide and well-suited for navigating the sands and dunes. They resist sinking into softer ground, finding it easier than most to maintain a strong balance. Dromens are near impossible to track in the desert, leaving footprints only detectable by the most skilled trackers.
## Vaotsev
Nimblefoot: The Vaotsev (pronounced similarly to Whatef) have tall and slender legs, built for speed and maneuverability. Like the Ado, they typically have an increased speed of 2 meters, but they are unable to gallop. Instead, however, they gain proficiency in Momentum and Maneuverability, moving with grace and beauty in every step, like an eternal dancer on the stage of life.
