# Introduction
The Oni are a [[Entities|Giant]] [[Heritage]] known to take the form of standard [[Entities|Folk]]. While in folk form, Oni are undistinguishable from folk such as [[Humans]], [[Inari]], and [[Elves]].
## Physiology
Oni have two forms, a folk form and a true form. They are born into their true form. Sometime around the age of 10, they typically tend to live their lives in their folk form, but under ceremonial or other unusual circumstances, they may choose to take their true form.
In their true form, Oni can vary wildly. Some have large tusks, others have intense eyebrows. A few have Ox-like horns, and, rarely, there are those with three eyes. The Oni’s true form stands between 3 and 5 meters high, and their skin can be any color of the rainbow and are typically rather vivid shades. The most common colors are red, blue, and green. The color of their hair is typically black, red, or white; and the color of their eyes determines what life goals were captured at their last Ushitora. Oni eyes have no pupils, and are fully colored. Oni typically have lifespans about 200 years, while some can live to the age of 250.
## General Culture
Oni are very protective of their true forms and their true names. Oni folklore dictates that this information is incredibly dangerous in the wrong hands, although there is no reliable evidence to that end. The Oni are very spiritual and superstitious. Some Oni live among the Jotunn in their true form. This is rather scandalous and taboo to Oni at large, but the Oni that do feel freed from tradition and superstition.
Oni choose their own name once every ten years, during their [[Ushitora]] ceremony and only those they consider family are told. Every ten years, they pilgrimage to the nearest Oni temple, and take on the blessing of their people, renaming themselves, renewing their form, and spiritually being reborn.

# Eye Affinities
Oni are strongly defined by their true form, which is reborn every ten years. Their form changes depending on the current state of their soul and mind during the ceremony and reflect the life they’ve lived so far. The color of their eyes in their true form are determined by their direction in life.
## Red Eyes
Indicates a drive for power and strength. Oni with red eyes deal four times the amount of damage during a critical hit instead of double the amount.
## Blue Eyes
Indicates a focus on emotional health and healing. Blue eyed Oni regain full HP and WP after a rest.
## Green Eyes
Indicates a need for freedom and experience. Green eyed Oni cannot be immobilized.
## Black Eyes
Indicate a sense of loss and purpose. It might also indicate repentance. Oni with black eyes may choose to absorb elemental energy once per day, nullifying its affect. The same day they have absorbed the effect, they may expel the energy, eminating it from their body, but not in a damaging way.
## Yellow Eyes
Indicate a thirst for knowledge and control. Oni with yellow eyes have [[Dusksight]] up to 10meters, and [[Thermalsight]] up to 16 meters.
# Ushitora Affinities
Additionally, when an oni accomplishes a life goal they held at their last Ushitora, they may find themselves with one of the following:
## Fierce Unibrow
Representing wisdom of experience, this feature grants Resistance to [[Cathexis|Cathectic]] damage.
## Ushi no Oukan
Twin Ox-like horns that represent success and fortune, these horns may be used as a Quick [[Actions|Action]] to knock an opponent [[prone]].
## Grimacing Tusks
Large teeth that protrude from the mouth and force it in to a permanent frown. Oni grow these during an Ushitora when a life goal is utterly and irreversibly lost. These Oni can spend a Quick Reaction to bite melee combatants who attack them, and force them to roll a [[Fortitude]] [[Save]] vs the Oni’s [[Intimidation]] check. Failure for the combatant imparts the affliction[[ Fear]].
## Cutaneous Horns
These horns made of keratin sprout in unintended places. Sometimes they grow from the base of the elbows, sometimes they grow in unexpected places on the face. Popular Oni culture associates them with denial of the self or their goals, and treat them with shame. However, most Oni monks who assist with the conduction of ushitora, know that these horns are usually expressions of self sacrifice, usually by Oni who realize their life goals are misleading or harmful. The effects of Cutaneous Horns are dependent on placement and size and are determined on a case by case basis.
