# Introduction Welligkeit is a haven for fishing, having been established on the lakeside of Lumen Lake. Welligkeit is an original member of [[The Khora]], and has existed for centuries. Welligkeit is a peaceful town, that has remained rather small despite its age, in no small part to nearby [[Luminova]] and [[Lumenport]] attracting many of its younger residents away. Nevertheless, the town has remained a steady population thanks to the influx of older adventurers looking to get away from the hustle and bustle and to spend their silver years raising a family and living in quiet. Welligkeit is also known for its extensive gravesite, which has the largest collection of gravestones to date. Many adventurers end up buried in Welligkeit. ## History Welligkeit was founded in 534 GE by the [[The Aldbine Imperial Republic|The Aldbine Empire]] to feed its growing population in [[Luminova]]. # Statistics - Population: 5,000 - Military force: 250 Guards - Districts: 6 # Social Classes ## Proletariat The proletariat are primarily anglers and dock workers. Thanks to funding from the gentry of Luminova, the schooling system is funded for six grades of school, with the highest scoring children often poached for guild work in the big city. ## Bourgeoisie The highest class in Welligkeit is the retired adventurer. The wealthy are relatively down to earth, as they have had to earn their wealth through life-threatening work, but their ability to invest in and control capital has established a few key gentry families of inheritance that always strive to survive against each other. All it takes is a new adventurer to settle into town that has even more wealth to upturn the balance of power, and the gentry cannot afford to rest on their laurels. ## Maverick Some adventurers retire prematurely, after experiencing the death of a friend or finding themselves otherwise unsuited for the traditional life of an adventurer. With their skills of adventuring, they utilize their careers in different ways. Some of those ways can be criminal. In a town where magic isn't ever too far away, simple pickpockets and scam artists thrive. # Politics The governor of Welligkeit serves at the pleasure of the town hall. There is no defined term limit, and so long as 70% of the voters present are in favor, the governor remains in office each town hall meeting, which takes place once a month. --- # Districts - Town Square - Hillside Cemetery - Driftwood Docks - Dragon's End - Fish Scale Slums - Oakland Park ## Town Square Various buildings surround a cobblestone square, where in the center is a fountain with three stone fish, all pointing outwards, with their tails in the air and water coming from their mouths.
