# Introduction Luminova is the de facto capital of the [[Northern Pass]]. A member of [[The Khora]], Luminova is known for the most prestigious academy in the area, and has been key in establishing diplomatic ties between The Khora and [[The Bolornead]]. The city is built under an overhang of the nearby mountain, which is reinforced heavily by both engineering and magic, allowing it to be a reliable shield from both weather and potential aerial assault. Districts are mostly divided between the deeper caverns built into the mountain, and simply existing underneath the under hang. # Statistics - Population: 100,000 - Military force: 5,000 city guards - [[Luminova Bridges|Bridges]] (Districts): 14 ## History The city was founded in 528 GE by [[The Aldbine Imperial Republic|The Aldbine Empire]] as a place to observe the stars, hence its name. When the Khora was signed, the city became a hub for trade and manufacturing. In 1025 SE, the city established the junior Khoran member, [[Lumenport]], which served as a crucial point of connection with its Khoran neighbors. # Social Classes ## Proletariat A majority of the proletariat work in the Harrow Fields, outside of the Iron Wall. Many attend eight grades of school, with those of aptitude finding work in the many guilds of Luminova. A majority of the proletariat, however, survive through the serf system, working for the city directly which owns the land. ## Bourgeoisie The bourgeoisie are the gentry class. There is no nobility class in the Khora, as all people are considered generally equal. The gentry rarely own land, but instead inherit family wealth and positions in companies and guilds. The gentry almost exclusively live in **Diorite Halls**. ## Maverick The criminals of Luminova are found in **Tarotwalk** and **Helvin Hole**. There are some thieves and swindlers, but no organized crime. The most common crimes are smuggling and fencing. There is a high demand for illegal substances to experiment on, and these two bridges thrive on the money that trickles in from the various students of Luminova Academy. # Politics The governor of Luminova is elected by the people once every five years. The governor appoints twelve judges and the chief guard of the city. The twelve judges serve as interrogators, prosecutors, jury, and make full determination for most low level cases. In the event of a high level case, the chief guard acts as prosecutor and the 12 judges act as jury, while the governor acts as judge. ### Offices Governor: **Clyde Cogsworth** Chief Guard: **Dido Gyzer** The judges are appointed to represent twelve of the fourteen bridges: - **Luminova Academy** - **Clatter Market** - **Diorite Halls** - [[Cornelius Hambras]] - **Windmaul** - **Roadkeep** - **Helvin Hole** - **Granite Grounds** - **Duster Deep** - **Incablock** - **Harrow Fields** - **Manawell** - **Tarotwalk** - **Auren Brightwheel** Arbor Bridge and the Iron Wall are the two bridges that do not need representatives. --- # Bridges (Districts) ## Arbor Bridge Arbor Bridge is located to the west side of the city, between the Iron Wall and Luminova Academy. Separated on all sides by a moat, elegant white granite bridges of [[Himinjoðyr]]-make connect the district to the rest of [[Luminova]]. However the entry bridges are the only gleaming white fixtures. Throughout the district, buildings that once matched the bridges are now more grey from the soot of the nearby Luminova Academy. While most Bridges of [[Luminova]] that sit against the cavern walls simply accept a bare earthen wall, the wall and cavern ceiling have bronze dome that surrounds the Bridge like an open dome. A healthy bonfire just under the crown of the bronze dome showers the whole district in brightness, as the reflected light from the metal cascades into every area brilliantly. There's a commercial part of the district, in an incline that leads up to the residential part of the district. The area is fancy, with precious gems inlaid on the light posts. The Khoran Guard heavily patrol this area and the district is virtually free of crime. In addition to a military perimeter, the wall also serves as a structural support, preventing the overhang from collapsing onto the populace. Notable locations contained within the wall are, by necessity, aligned in a linear fashion. ### Points of Interest - [[Luminova Gaolery]] - Armory --- ## Luminova Academy Along the Western side of [[Luminova]], the Academy Bridge is separated from the **Iron Wall** only by **Arbor Bridge**. From the stalactites hang lanterns that give off a green glow and ward off the mist and smoke that collects near the cavern's ceiling. The **Ironwood** buildings are finely dusted in soot, and the cobblestone streets are full of mud, tightly packed into the cracks. The Luminova Academy is the quintessential district, usually what most people think of when they talk of Luminova.
