# Introduction The Central Trifecta Range is one of the largest regions on the continent. Despite its size, the territory is sparsely populated, and filled to the brim with dragons. Only avis from [[The Bolornead]] populate the land, seeing as flight is a requirement to navigate the lands efficiently. # Statistics - Capital: [[Valiento]] - Land Area: 115,000 sq.km - Population: 23,000 - Military force: 6 battalions of city guards/hunters (1 battalion per settlement) # Climate ## Landscape The Central Trifecta Range is made up of large mountainous terrain. The terrain is rugged, but full of life. There is plenty of shrubs and trees that survive in the thin soil. ## Weather The weather is somewhat frigid in the highlands, but dry. The winds can be harsh. ## Fauna Dragonlings are plentiful and dangerous. While the avis in the area respect the low dragons enough to leave them alone, they have been required over the centuries to relax their views on dragonlings in order to survive. Dragonlings are now hunted as a favored local meat. One Low Dragon accepts tribute from [[Eolica]], and another accepts tribute from [[Aeolias]]. Low Dragons demanding tribute from Valiento and Rocio de Nubes have been slaughtered with Bolor's permission. # Regional History The **Central Trifecta Range** was unsettled for most of the **Era of Aldbine**, only being occupied by the [[Bolornead]] during the last few centuries. The first large settlement was [[Rocio de Nubes]], which, for many centuries, was considered the largest city and de facto capital of the range. In time, however, much of Rocio de Nubes' power was split between [[Iban]], the largest city nearby, and [[Valiento]], which was situated at the southern tip of the range, and usually the last stop avis had before they set out on the [[Draconic Crusades]]. **Valiento** eventually stole the status as capital as more political focus was placed on the Crusades as the height of the Era of Xemplare was reached in its second millennia. # Social Class ## Proletariat The common tongue in CTR is **Kudili**, and is the primary reason the language is not a dead language. While many Avis speak Kudili as a second language, only in CTR is Kudili the first language of the general populace. The common folk of CTR focus on survival. There is a class consciousness that to live in the lands of the dragons, one must be a dragon themselves. And while the most devoted often pilgrimage to Aerendor to visit Bolor, they find the lifestyle they seek in CTR. CTR is the wild within the wild, a place where most of its land remains nearly untouched by mortalkind. It is the few places where the populace can survive almost solely on hunting. Everyone here knows how to wield a bow and how to be a threat. Everyone here knows how to pull their own weight and to serve their community. To be exiled may as well be a death sentence in these harsher lands. The villages rarely use money, and prefer the barter system. Yet, this simply gravitated to another substitution for currency: dragon scales. ## Bourgeoisie Chieftains are elected from the council, which is itself run by the oldest families. Those in politics are the closest to being in the bourgeoisie class and even then, it would be odd if one of them did not pull their own weight. Visitors are often expected to bring with them an offering or tribute of some sort. This is supposed to be ceremonial, a way to express you are not simply taking from the community as it offers you hospitality in the wild. It is also a way that the oligarchy council demonstrates power and asserts authority. ## Mavericks CTR has the single largest population of hermits, not that anyone is aware of that fact. Many hermits are exiles that survive their punishment. They stay near the lands that they know, but know that venturing out further risks death from a low dragon. Hermit behaviors vary; and the traveling adventurer would be advised to keep up their guard around them. # Social Circles ## Martial Nearly everyone is a part of the Martial Social Circle in CTR. Training to hunt begins at a young age, and hunting is a mandatory activity for most youth, even those who may be disabled. Only blindness may excuse one from hunting, if only to prevent hunting accidents. ## Art and Culture Music is the primary cultural expression in the Central Trifecta Range. While most of the music is whistling, some woodwinds have become popular as other heritages attempt to catch the beauty of an Avis song. Recently, lutes have become more popular, and are sometimes included in songs played at home. But for many, the songs that accompany a hunt are where the heart of their society lies. ## Mercantile The rare traveling merchant often makes a wealth in dragon scales. Still, the journey from village to village is fraught with danger, and few dare to take up the challenge. Even if you escape the wild with your life, you may be forced to abandon your stock due to a dragon. ## Industrial There simply is no industry circle in the Central Trifecta Range. The closest would be the hunters of dragons, who make value in "harvesting" more dragon scale. These hunters would be considered the martial circle though. ## Law and Order Legal systems are primarily in place in Rocio de Nubes and Valiento, where they mimic the systems of the north. There is a high emphasis on judging crimes based on their danger to society, rather than their impact on individuals. Crimes of revenge are usually given relatively light sentences, while crimes of passion tend to be given stricter punishments. The idea is that crimes with a specific target in mind are more a dispute between two individuals (or families) that the community should not interfere with, and that passions are more of a danger to community norms that should not be challenged. ## Community Community is everything to the Central Trifecta Range. While the population has high standards from the individual, they provide for their elderly, their invalid, and those who are less fortunate (poor hunters). Some communities have potlucks every night, cooking as a community. Others simply have a system in place to redistribute the proceedings of a hunt. What matters most to the community is effort, not skill. Nearly every folk, down to the last person, is a Bolor Dracolyte. Bolor is worshipped and prayed to. Because the intensity of the community leaves no room for differentiation, there is no meaningful dissent or variety in worship, save for the visitors of Valiento. ## Academia The academic nature of CTR is relegated to Rocio de Nubes and Valiento. These cities have a small group of researchers, who study dragons. Because the work both requires great hunters and those who do not believe in the divinity of dragons, the work is laborious and slow going. Funding is sparse and the researchers are impressive simply for having an organization like theirs last as long as it has. Otherwise, most education is done either in the family unit or else on a hunt. Those who are poor at hunting, or unenthusiastic, are only then given the option to be another profession, and to live as an apprentice to one of the few craftspeople in town that have yet to take on one. Otherwise, the community will banish the child, unless they return with a corpse of a dragon. Most children who do not get accepted into the hunters and have no open opportunities to craft will either disappear, living on as a hermit, or else dying to a dragon. # Locations ## Cities and Towns - [[Rocio de Nubes]] - [[Cordillera]] - [[Valiento]] - [[Eolica]] - [[Aeolias]] - [[Melody]] ## Landmarks - Landmark - 0 ## Other - Other - 0
