# Introduction
Biomes are designated areas of the world with similar ecosystems, hosting similar harvesting tables for foraging, hunting, or any other forms of gathering in the wilderness. While certain areas may have unique harvesting options, by and large the areas of the world can be designated by biomes, sub-biomes, and regional modifiers. These areas have reliable changes that can be tracked throughout the year.
# Biomes and Sub-biomes
## Jungles
Jungle biomes arise in tandem with each other, the development of one large ecosystem broken down into sub-biomes as each area facilitates the development of the others. They typically experience two extreme seasons throughout the year, rather than the typical four.
- [[Rainforest]]
- [[Cloudforest]]
- [[Tropics]]
- [[Black Jungle]]
## Deserts
The desert subset of biomes are wide and varied. Though the land is always harsh, the abundance of life here is usually much deeper than what is first apparent. Like jungles, deserts often experience two extreme seasons throughout the year.
- [[Dune Desert]]
- [[Fog Desert]]
- [[Shadow Desert]]
- [[Dustbowl]]
- [[Rockland]]
- [[Saltlands]]
- [[Polar Desert]]
## Shrublands
Shrublands are a transitional biome subtype usually existing between grasslands and a much more flora developed region. Shrublands are also often found on mountainsides, existing as the last vestiges of plant life before the elevation chokes out life.
- [[Heath]]
- [[Thornscrub]]
- [[Fynbos]]
- [[Chaparral]]
- [[Tundra]]
## Grasslands
Grasslands are a biome subset characterized by open grass plains with almost no tree coverage and very little shrub coverage.
- [[Steppe]]
- [[Savanna]]
- [[Moor]]
- [[Prairie]]
## Forest
Forest Biomes are defined by significant tree coverage, but unlike jungles, they still experience a traditional seasonal structure.
- [[Deciduous Forest]]
- [[Laurel Forest]]
- [[Coniferous Forest]]
- [[Woodland]]
- [[Grove]]
- [[Taiga]]
## Wetlands
- [[Swamp]]
- [[Mangal]]
- [[Estuary]]
- [[Marsh]]
- [[Salt Marsh]]
- [[Quagmire]]
## Coastal
- [[Lagoon]]
- [[Continental Shelf]]
- [[Beach]]
- [[Rocky Shore]]
- [[Coral Reef]]
