# Introduction Items are material possessions that characters can possess. They are defined by their quality, their Item type, and their Item Properties. Items carried by your character are held in their inventory slots, a statline defined by your character's [[Size and Weight|Weight]]. # Item Types Item Types are not exclusive, and many items have multiple item typings. ## Containers Item containers are items that either add additional inventory slots for your character or allow you to carry items with special requirements, such as liquid items. ## Equipment Equipment items are items that can be directly assigned to your character, and do not take up an inventory slot when they do. [[Weapons]] and [[Defense Rates and Armor|Armor]] are the most common equipment used, and are considered Item Subtypes. ## Material Materials are items used to construct other items. Materials can be used to create armor or construct buildings. ## Ingredients Ingredient items are used to brew potions, make meals, or use in scientific processes. ## Liquids Liquid Items must be held in an appropriate Container. # Quality Quality is an item rating system that serves as a shorthand for availability, price, make, and complexity. Quality levels may determine a [[Aspects and Proficiencies|Proficiency]] level needed to acquire or craft an item, or a proficiency needed to make full use of the items' capabilities. Capabilities that require proficiency to take advantage of are denoted as **Advanced Properties**. To use ingredients or materials in systems such as [[Scientific Methods]] or [[Workforce Trades]], you must have a proficiency in the system equivalent to the ingredient's or the material's quality. - 1\* quality indicates a humble item that anyone can use. These items rarely have anything deeper than surface level function. Some 1* quality items may even be dilapidated and in disrepair. - 2* quality indicates a plain and standard item of decent make. These items are common use in normal, every day life, and are standard fare for anyone in the public to use. - 3* quality indicates a fine item of sturdy make. These items are uncommon, but are easily obtainable by those willing and able to invest in higher grade materials. - 4* quality are artisanal quality items, made with particular deliberation. Materials used are above standard, and these items are somewhat rare. - 5* quality items are master-crafted items, top of the line work that are the finest that can be reasonably obtained from highest echelon of craftsfolk. An immense amount of money, time, and effort means these items are rarely used outside of elite military and royalty use. - 6* quality items are mythic, legendary items that have stood the test of time and true magnum opus works of generations. These items are immensely valuable and highly treasured. # Item Properties Item properties are additional properties that can define an object's behavior. In additional to general Item Properties, there are properties specific to certain Item Types. There are properties specific to [[Weapons]] and [[Defense Rates and Armor|Armor]] can be found in the pages for those two specific subtypes. All properties and their definitions can be found in the [[Item Property Glossary]]
