# Introduction
Lovers of culture, but secretive in nature, the shapeshifting Fey wander the world untethered, swapping stories and secrets with each other. Most Fey are always on the move, never in one place for too long.
## Physiology
The potency of [[Mana]] in the Fey bloodline allows them to shapeshift most of their body, and often they live almost entirely in adopted forms, rather than their true form. A Fey’s true form is mostly humanoid with thin, paper-like skin and elongated limbs. Their eyes are green, with occasionally golden flakes, and that is one physical trait they cannot alter; therefore, green eyed people are seldom trusted to be who they say they are. Fey are typically left-handed and have a penchant for milk. These common traits are also often used as indications of being Fey.
## General Culture
The Fey are travelers and explorers by nature, and to this end, many of them travel alone or in very small groups, never founding their own cities. While they may have children, those children are often abandoned to live on their own about the age of ten, sometimes in the care of others, sometimes alone in the woods. To survive youth without parents is seen as a rite of passage and necessity of growth. This experience often encourages them to be emotionally distant from others and a fear of being controlled. It is common for Fey to portray either a child-like carefree persona, or else display a brooding, silent archetype. There are many forests that become popular for Fey to abandon their young, and in these forests, there have come to be children’s camps, made by children who often band together. Therefore, while the Fey have a very deep and vivid cultural memory of the past, they are often filled with half-truths and embellishments as most of their wisdom is kept orally, among children.
That said, plenty of older Fey drop in at the encampment for a night or two while on the way for their travels, and offer lessons, stories, news, and materials to the group in exchange for a place to sleep. During these special occasions, there are usually bonfires to celebrate, where dancing with traditional wooden masks and earrings are common as old lore is recited.
Culturally, the Fey both love and scorn the [[Elves]]. Fey enjoy the deference they receive from Elves, but they typically find their lifestyle unbearable.
