"On swift wings does the arrow fly, hey fellow, oh fellow, scales above the sky!
Eastern winds bring the sun on high, hey fellow, oh fellow, scales above the sky!
Thank the dragons for this hunt, for our lives, and for this land.
To them all we owe this much! Victory is sure at hand!"
\- Old Avis military chant **Scales Above the Sky**, often sung during a hunting party's take off

# Introduction
The Avis are proud descendants of the Dragons. They are particular in appearance, loyalty, and accomplishments. Avis are the only true fliers of the skies, save dragons, and they have a dual sense of pride and freedom with that fact.
# Description
The Avis are bird-like folk. Most have beaks, feathers, and wings under their arms, along with talon-clawed feet and hands. Avis have a rather wide variety of plumage, and there are a large variety of fantastical shades and patterns. Monocoloured plumage varieties prevail however, as they maintain the dominant gene trait.
Despite their resemblance to birds, Avis are still mammals, and their children are born live.
## Wings
Avis wings operate as a stretch of skin connected from their ribcage and up their arm. Avis have talon arms, with three fingers and a thumb, but their pinky has essentially migrated down to the wrist and has become a wing bone. This wing bone is about the length of their forearm, and half as thick, and lies inward, resting against the avis' forearm. Avis can then raise the joint in a near 180 degree motion to extend their wing bone more parallel with their other fingers, thus fully deploying their wings for flight.
