"Grian ioinnir néire aghaid, agus bothar ardú suas bualad tusa" \- Old Elven greeting --- # Introduction Elves believe themselves to be descended from the deities themselves. According to [[The Verdant Church]], they are the first people, and come from the time before time, bringing light and order to the world. Culturally conservative and highly traditional, elves are known for their sense of propriety and their reclusive nature. ## Physiology Elves have standard folk bodies, typically slender with a lean frame. They average about 2 meters in height, and are characterized by their uniquely sharp ears. They average a lifespan of 175 years of age. ## General Culture ([[Aldbine Imperial Republic]]) Elves are highly ceremonial and prize purity in mind, heart, and body. Ancestry and lineage matter greatly in terms of social standing. Traditionally, they support royal bloodlines and monarchy, supported by an organized state religion. The size and structure of the common culture religion is unique; it is not a structure followed by other cultures. Elves have some of the most extensive libraries in the world, with records documenting the ages past. These libraries are well-guarded, and protected like any other treasure. Elves believe knowledge to be almost another sort of magic unto itself. The race is very prideful, and while they are ashamed of their fall from grace as the dominant culture in the world, their previous influence is widely felt in most cultures today. The letter of the law is very important to Elvenkind, and there are no exceptions. This contrasts significantly with Astrals, who give a lot of power to judge and jury. Elven cities resist allowing personal decisions to guide cases, and prefer a justice to all system, completely blind to anything outside its purview. Of course, wealth always greases the wheels, but there are no slap on the wrists for those in the oligarchy that slip up. Once in court, justice is served harshly, no matter the standing. Therefore, political subterfuge has much higher stakes in Aldbine than the rest of the world. Elves maintain a curious fantastical and cautiously respectful approach to [[Fey]] as a whole. This is somewhat surprising, since Fey and Elven culture clash drastically, and yet, the deference is made apparent in the legends and folklore that passes from one generation to the next. # Statline [[Entities|Entity Type]]: Folk, Sylvan [[Size and Weight]]: Medium, Middleweight [[Move|Speed]] +0m [[Vulnerabilities and Resistances|Resistance]]: [[Miasma]], [[Elysia]] [[Vulnerabilities and Resistances|Vulnerabilities]]: [[Fire]], [[Entities|Vermin]], [[Ice]], [[Cold Iron]] +1 [[Dexterity|Sensitivity]], +1 [[Agility|Reflex]], +1 [[Invention|Impression]] [[Restorative Repose]] [[Bloodbound]] # Auxiliary Facets ## Exclusive Facets ### Nature's Healing Elves are particularly in tune with healing [[Wild Magik|Magik]] from birth, and this instinct can become rather potent as they grow older. Once per day, per target, an Elf with this facet can heal a creature they can touch for 10 [[Hitpoints and Willpower|HP]], and alleviates up to 3 stacks of [[Bleed]]. This is a quick reaction. If used to stabilize a dying creature, it restores a single [[Stages of Decline|Stage of Decline]], if one has already been applied from immediate danger. ### Banishing Power Elves with high levels of [[Cathexis]] can pull upon the pure might of [[Wild Magik|Magik]] under stressful circumstances. When you have [[Hitpoints and Willpower|Cracked Composure]] and you are fighting a creature typed with [[Miasma]], [[Entities|Undead]], or similar, you may spend 10 [[Hitpoints and Willpower|WP]] to imbue a melee attack with [[Elysia]] damage equal to the damage you would normally deal. This damage is in addition to the standard damage. You may only use this once per turn. ## Rising Road [[Elves]] are [[Bloodbound]] because the culture is so intensely monocultural and traditional. Those travelers that explore the outside world extensively are changed in a million ways that are instantly noticeable, but unpredictable to the Elven senses. Their gait, their stance, their movements. Elves that earn this facet remove the Bloodbound facet. ## Additional Facets - [[Arsaid Acolyte]] - [[Ferrotolerant]] --- See also: [[Elves Supplement]]
